One of the Most Important Words in the English Language

The following 12 verses speak about what is arguably one of the most important words in the English Language:

seek – attempt to find (something)

The word ‘seek’ is up there with words like ‘hope’, ‘faith’ and ‘love’. When you stop seeking, it is as though you were deciding to stop living, to give up on things like pursuing happiness and the meaning of life. Living on this planet, with all of its ups and downs, should remain inspiring. There will be challenges along the way, but nothing should stop us from being passionate about the greater things in life, the bigger questions. We should always seek answers. We should always seek out the truth. We should always seek, whatever stage on the journey we happen to be traveling. And, have a bit of hope, a measure of faith and loads of love to help you see things beyond the immediate and the mundane.

Happy hunting as you go about the seeking that is a part of all of our destinies!

isaiah 53:6 – PEOPLE SEEK
1 Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground; he has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. 8 He was taken from oppression and judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was there any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he has put him to grief; when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

genesis 3:6 – THE FIRST SIN
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

1 john 2:16 – DESIRES
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

james 1:14-15 – SIN
14 But every person is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

matthew 7:7, 6:33 – SEEK
7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

33 “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

10 As it is written:
“There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 there is none that understands; there is none that seeks after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way; they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one.”

A note about sin from the author: Many people who identify themselves with progressive modern society tend to have hang ups about the word, “sin”. It’s an overreaction, in my opinion.

Sin is simply people doing their own thing. Put another way, it is when we do not live according to the way our physical and spiritual beings were designed to live.

Do we have hang ups with the moral connotations of the above definition? Oh, yes! Modern progressive societies just will not accept that this definition of sin applies to those who subscribe to the tenets and cultural frameworks of those societies. But that’s another story.
